Some other random remarks I didn’t want to pack into this story:

Trump will lose his appeal. No question.

On the merits of his behavior in this case, he will receive jail time. But he will not be asked to serve it before election, which is my mind, mistake. His constant evasion must end.

On his “boffo fundraising.” The press accepted his inane boast without any Verfication! None. I believe it is a complete lie. He pulls this shit out of thin air. Did his web site crash? Yes, but his web site crashes frequently bc he doesn’t PAY anyone to keep it running properly. Show us the money, Donnie. The fact is, if he receives any sum, it’s already spent. His debts far exceed what he’s fundraising.

When you're voting for president you're not voting for the man, you're voting for the one who will leave us with years of influence by appointing judges , supreme court justices, maybe getting some good bills passed with the support of democrats in the house and senate. Who recently appointed maybe one of the best justices ever? Brown-Jackson. Biden's. Think about that. It's vital now to beat Trump, make him a total loser. Vote for Biden, he's the best we've got at the moment. Vote as liberal or radical as you can up and down the ballot. Watch the movie " Shirley" about the black woman who ran for president in the sixties. You have one vote, use it! Tunnel from within.

On another point of law: I am not in favor of banning felons to vote. Nor am I in favor of banning felons from running for office. You serve your time, and that’s it. When you think of all the people disenfranchised in this country because of the prison industrial complex, it’s an outrage. However, making something illegal doesn’t mean you ignore an individual’s unfitness. Trump is utterly unrepentant and wants to do all his crimes over again, ten-fold.

About Wall Streett: The market shot up, DOW up 600 points, on the news of the verdict.

The world was holding its breath, as I wrote in my story. Furthermore, if the jury had been hung, the damage to the business world, to contracts and essential bookkeeping obligations, would have been catastrophic.

Do the 1% want a conservative in the White House who protects their profits and eschews regulations? Of course.

But Trump isn’t that man, and they found it out last time. He’s a vanity machine, a faux businessman, who isn’t content with big donations— he demands his supporters be humiliated while they kiss the ring. He brags like the ultimate capitalist, but it’s quite the opposite— everything he touches (i.e., corruption) falls apart.

So where does that leave “The Pillow Guy,” or that dude who today swore he would “never visit NYC again” and pledged a whopping $5k to Trump’s campaign? These guys are bog-level wannabe’s. Send them to Grand Central Landscaping.

Excellent article, very rousing! I don’t have the confidence though that he will lose the appeal, can you tell me more about that?

Hey Amanda, thank you. I’ll include a link here that goes into every nook and cranny of the appeal process. The main answer to your doubts, is that the prosecution and the judge planned to withstand appeal from the very beginning. Merchan wouldn’t let the prosecution present a whole bunch of their case, because he wanted it to be appeal-proof. The jury selection, as you saw, was rigorous. The New York State court of appeals has already signaled a big “don’t-get-frivolous-with-us” attitude. It’s a tone set by Bragg at his press conference. Anyway, check out this deep dive link, it really looks under all the stones: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/06/01/nyregion/trump-appeal-conviction.html
