"It’s difficult, isn’t it, that painful memories linger with more fire than the sweet ones."--thank you for putting this so beautifully. I've written it in my commonplace book.

I love you pink sunglasses with tortoise shell frames for the style answer; for question #1 what I am doing in 2023: started taking piano lessons after decades and I am now a serious piano student in love with her teacher; for failures of 2023 I agreed with you: no failure and so we will try harder for peace in 2024; as for my 2023 theme song: MYSTERY ACHIEVEMENTS by the Pretenders - adore that Chrissie Hynde and her wisdom

just one more thing: Shawn Fain's unwavering belief that the UAW can strike successfully and is now building for a General Strike for 2028: how can one not love this guy?!

I tried it but to really answer these questions I will have to take time and think.

1. Are there any things that you did for the first time this past year?

~For the first time in my life, I said goodbye to someone who had been bad to me and for me. I never thought I could do that as I suffer from the Messiah or Jesus or Florence Nightingale syndrome, to always forgive and turn the other cheek and to think of myself as a good person.

~I learned a new way to use my legs while swimming long distances.

~I started ice swimming, I have been wanting to do that for a long time, but it is not for me.

What are your favorite movies this year?

1. Past lives

2. Wonka

3. Moeder Suriname/ Mama Sranan

4. The Eight Mountains

5. Anselm

Did you fall in love in 2023?

Yes, I think I did. I did not consume yet. But someone has made me happy.

Thank you Susie for posting the Jill Posener photo. Fun memories of her and I trying to unjam some 35 film in the toilet at Food for Thought. I recall it was shots of Tees work. Do you know if she is able to sit up and take nourishment?

Haha! Jill is doing very well, and just attended a group show that showcased her work in the Tate Museum.

This was so delightful, but I'll need to ruminate beyond a comment to answer these questions.

However, Slow Horses is spectacular.
