I read a tattered 10 cent paperback edition of "Reds: 10 Days That Shook The World" in high school, which I knew was tied in with some kind of movie (which I hadn't seen), but was basically the original... amazing first hand account of the revolution in Russia and it's immediate aftermath. So tragic that he died an early death. :(

Yes, I fell in love with that book and John Reed’s story. Talk about “you are there.”

Back in those days, it WAS Route 66! Jeez, I wonder what happened to that guy. A vet who was suicidal for sure.

I took the same route in 71, stayed with Jack and Stephanie when we got to Detroit. Didn’t you also?

Aw, I wish. No, they weren’t my “hosts” but of course I got to know them as the story progresses. You’ll see a big jump next week.
