This really got to me because the same sadness is in our fairly near future. What a loving story. I can’t imagine finding a new love but fortunately there is now a well monitored FB group for senior lesbians that feels like family. Just can’t imagine meeting someone on line - it was a feminist commune in DC 51 years ago that we met. Thanks Susie for telling us their story.
Even when one arrives at a complete stop at the end of their journey, others continue on. It’s not as predictable as we might like to believe who will go first, and even then, those left can feel bitter, lost, abandoned. For the one left living, suddenly the journey is so different. They have the option of how to proceed, and sometimes it’s unfamiliar to have to make that decision themselves. I feel for Ariel.
Wow. So beautiful.
Yes. God, the first year is so tough
I've been reading Ariel for a couple decades and she never fails to touch my heart with her writing. Thank you for sharing this.
She is one of a kind!
I loved reading this.
I know. Really got to me.

There’s the things you can plan, and whew, there are the things where you won’t have a clue, for a long long time. Xoxox

Yes, so many times, yes. All the manuals are full of it.
