For the third consecutive year, we're having a quiet low-key Thanksgiving. It's just my partner and I, my eldest daughter (the younger one estranged herself), and my brother and his husband. Gone are the days of 12 to 15 people around the table--the above family plus my younger daughter and my grandchildren, a long time friend who's headed for Vietnam for this holiday, a couple we know who are currently not in good health, and the "lost lambs" among those with we knew at the time with nowhere to go.

The need for a 20-lb bird is now a need for a 10-pounder. My partner doesn't believe in last-minute stuff---got it from her mother, I think. The cooking starts tomorrow.

I wish you a fantastic Thanksgiving Day, Susie!

I’m all for short cuts and making do with what you have! This are great ones and I particularly like the mashed potato warming hack! BTW , as part of the lead up to Thanksgiving I made some of your oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with Ras El Hanout. They are in my list of favorites to make these days. Thankyou!! Meanwhile we have to find you somewhere other than Amazon for your links!! Let’s work on that in the New Year. Happy Thanksgiving Susie! How thankful I am to have your newsletter to enjoy ❤️😎❤️

Can I come over with my Palestinian friends? They too are feeling down right now.

My secret is this - the smallest turkey you can find plopped into an electric roaster. It might be done to perfection in your three hour window!

Thanks for the tips, Susie. I've created a tradition of making a pan of enchiladas for Thanksgiving. This year it will be the green, though I may make some red sauce too so that we can have a little early Christmas!!!
