Susie’s Writing/Editing/Publishing is BACK
I’ve counseled and guided quite a few working writers through their publishing adventures, including here on Substack.
Several of you have asked me if I might teach affordable small group classes. Alright, I succumb! I realize I’m not around this mortal coil forever, so let’s do it.2
If you’d like me to save you a spot, email me: office(at)susiebright.com, with the Subject Line: June Classes.
You’ll be first on my list. I’m here for you if you get the drift.
Substack for Writers: Take One - June 7, Saturday - if you’re new-ish to publishing your fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction on the Stack (or similar places/newsletters).
Substack for Writers: Take Two - June 14, Saturday - if you’re already in the Stacky-sphere, but you’re wondering what comes next, where your motivation/next step lies. Also, how to breathe new life into backlist. Seriously.
FREAK OUT NOTE: the biggest bugaboo about group classes is that well-known writers, quite legitimately, are averse to being “known” in a class. I mean, how can you be Stephen King and admit you are lost like a ball in the tall grass? Or you’re a NYTimes bestselling author who’s broke? Uh, it’s kinda a huge group!
So— I organize my classes around anonymity. I figured out how to do it. No one else will know you, but we’ll get the editing and work we need. Get in, loser. :-)

If you have long admired a writer, or any artist, who’s getting up there in age, and wondered what it’s like to work them— I’m telling ya, after 60, it’s a crap-shoot how long they’re going to be around and competent. I remember being on a plane with Dorothy Allison after she’d led a workshop in Italy, and she said, “I can’t even do this, physically, any longer.” This is the way it is. Don’t wait for them to write the perfect marketing copy for you. Apprentice yourself while your icons are in good health.
