I've banked the last three episodes off Shogun and we will watch it this weekend. I agree about its excellence, except the battle scenes could be better.
And thanks for the tip on Black Sails. We've never watched it.
I’m not an expert “battle watcher” — do you mean in its authenticity, or the dramatic writing of the battle? Curious!
Also on Black Sails… feel free to start with Ep 5, Season 1, and then just watch the recaps as you go along. I think they REALLY got better after the first couple episodes.
It seemed to me as if there should have been closer calls for the main characters.As well, I had an overall sense that those scenes were not a priority. The opening scene in Gladiator is a terrific battle scene, and these don't come close.
