Memoir from The Floating World
Donna George Storey and the Water Trade of Shögun
We are right in the middle of this year’s Emmy Awards, where not surprisingly, Shögun is being honored with the most Emmys in history, for a single season of a television series.
The series is heads above any other drama the past year, and I was lucky to review it, when it debuted.
One of subplots is the story of a beautiful courtesan’s teahouse, which our English protagonist recognizes is a kind of brothel, but aesthetically beyond anything he has ever seen before.
