Me, James Brown, Karl Marx, & Kamala

A little singing, a little probing, and a primer on America’s socialist families

Today’s Podcast

Trump likes to scream “Marxist” in the same vein as his forays into “Killer Sharks!” And “Abdul”!

Donald doesn’t know what any of it means.

But those of us who do know a few things about politics, would like to enjoy a rational conversation.

The Cold War Red Scare cast a long shadow on American politics, and it’s not surprising that many younger political activists today . . . have radical parents who were part of the contemporary Left.

Hello there, and welcome to our podcast: “Back to Bed with Susie Bright.”
This is the week of September 13, 2024. If you could consider subscribing, I’m so grateful.

What was their family influence, and how did the rebellion happen?

Harris is a resolute believer in regulated capitalism, and she knows exactly where she departed from her father’s ideology.

There are two Biden Cabinet Members who Rebelled Against Good Ole Lefty Dad— Mayor Pete and Kamala Harris.

I thought it would be interesting to explore both case histories without the hysterics.

Both the son, and the daughter, pushed back against their father’s socialist ideals, and devotion to academia. I didn’t grow up in that vein, but I find it fascinating.

Recipe for The September Stinger

This is what I made for the Debate, for eight people. Remember to multiply the ingredients for a crowd! It’s a winner.

I call it the September Stinger.

  • 2 oz. dry gin

  • 2-4 tsp. pickle juice, brine from the jar!

  • 4 oz. watermelon puréed

—Shake with ice and pour straight, or serve on the rocks.

Add a splash of soda on top

Multiple as needed.
