"It was the unraveling of a family knot that should be all too familiar to those who have watched one half their kin destroy the other and were never be able to put it back together again." Damn, damn, damn.
Wonderful awful story Susie. It's very compacted. Would it make a book if you wrote it from the beginnings of OOB (you and the Bear Mag guy waiting in line to Xerox your first issues...)? Not to be too pie in the sky, but as a full-length it would have movie possibles. The film "Burlesque" was awful and untruthful, and stands as a complete opposite of what you're talking about here. A sad and beautiful piece, and thank you so much for writing it. I've always wanted to hear more of the On Our Backs story, and it's amazing to learn more of these details.
Couldn’t agree with you more.
T-Rex Tryin’!
Oh Susie. That left me breathless and heartbroken, in the best possible way.
Thanks, Martha. It was hard to print. Such a time.
This. Is. So. Powerful.

Aw, Sherman, thanks. And yeah. It’s still not back together.
