Do you have a book proposal that needs editing before you’re confident to send out? This is the class to bring it to.
“A goddamn brilliant Fuck-You-Pay-Me lesson on how to say Fuck-You-Pay-Me. A master class on how to pitch a master class.”
—Gabriel Liston, student
A hands-on workshop to learn the basics of what belongs in a convincing pitch letter to a publisher or an agent for your new title— and just as important, what to leave out.
How do we get them to say “yes” or even, “let’s talk more”?
People who write the most beautiful novels and stirring nonfiction are known to freeze like a sno-cone when it comes to writing a cover letter. It’s not unusual. You don’t have to be a letter-writing robot, or a suck-up, or sell your work short. Nope. Let’s do it the right way.
Requirements:
Susie will send you a pitch template and (5) questions to play with before our Zoom meeting.
You can use one of your own projects, or take a favorite title from your own bookshelf, something you know really well (Valley of the Dolls, Moby Dick) and use that as your example.
This will require an hour or two of YOUR prep time, and your answer is due 48 hours before the Zoom meet, on Sept 26th.
