Easily one of my very favorite books of the year, and the droll delivery of her tight prose makes the audiobook that much more enjoyable, if you are into that kind of thing. She doesn’t waste a word. I fucking loved it. A perfect memoir, imo.
“She took care of them in ways that she had not been taken care of herself.”
— this was the gripping theme of the memoir for me. That she simultaneously has to deal with life threatening cancer in her husband is so painful. It was during this period of her life that I became a fan of her political work. I now look back and understand that she was franticly struggling with grief and fear the whole time.
beautiful and poignant article on ERic Jong, i wondered what happened to her, so much of our culture is so fleeting, and so unfair to fall off that cliff. i am even more precious with breaths of life.
You just wanted us to know Erica Jong had a crush on you ; )
Seriously though, really looking forward to reading this and as usual, great review!
I really love your interview with Erica Jong, and had been unaware of the connection with Howard Fast.
