AND here's some more on the building Catholic split inside the administration from @jimstewartson:

"Hegseth’s persistently unconstitutional, aggressive insertion of evangelical Christianity as motivation for the military is dangerous enough, but he’s also set up a kind of holy war within his holy war—between Protestants and Catholics. The Friday morning before the war began, Hegseth held a Christian prayer meeting in the Pentagon—but only for Protestants. Catholics were not invited. ... Hegseth’s bigotry is consistent with his christofascist cult leader Doug Wilson, who says Catholics should not be able to practice their faith in public because he considers it idolatry.

“the republic would not grant permission for any public displays of idolatry… a stout Protestant republic could not allow a Virgin Mary parade because it would be public idolatry… Sorry, but there it is. You guys shouldn’t be doing that.”

This view is also reflected in recent reporting that Hegseth’s subordinates invited the Pope’s ambassador to the United States, apostolic nuncio Christopher Pierre. to the Pentagon and threatened him.

Richard, that is hilarious! Second City TV (SCTV) at its best with all the great Canadian greats. I love Catherine O’Hara being Katherine Hepburn. Man you throw JD Vance into this skit and he’d fit right in!

The Pope may not have a military army but he commands moral respect among many if not most Americans who are voters.

I could imagine this Pope somehow making clear who he does NOT want to be the next president.

Leo’s spoken loud and clear. So proud of him. Chicago must be LIT tonight, everyone talking.

And here I thought this government just wanted to go back to the 19th century.
