I adore all of the Law and Order episodes: from Paul Sorvino to Jeremy Pisto as the detectives with a particular love for Lenny Briscoe; lately, I have been consumed by Southland - a 5 season NBC drama from the 2000s - with a strong affection for the patrol officer John Cooper - especially when he was patrolling with Lucy Liu - it's the cinematography in that show: everything a tawdry yellow by twilight

The tawdry LA yellow light, YES. This is where Lucy Liu became so well known, don’t you think? I have to run back and see the seasons I missed.

You Law and Order fiends probably know that Dick Wolf was told after his pilot season, “Cast some girls”— they were going to can it if he didn’t get rid of the all male-lineup. This is intriguing to me… I am certainly a conventional woman viewer, but the chemistry of the crew on Season 1, it was INCREDIBLE. So I wasn’t missing the woman. Later, of course, I loved Dr. Olivet, and “Jamie”, and Epatha Merkerson, but I was always looking for who “jelled” together. Angie Harman made me so ill I actually stopped watching for her seasons.

I thought I had all the Dunk and Egg novellas from Audible and was going to listen to them again. But when I looked, I only had the first two on Kindle. I just bought the Audible “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” that collects all three in one location. The reviews of Harry Lloyd’s reading are decidedly mixed, but I am enjoying it so far.

HBO dropped the next episode early, I think to avoid conflict with the Super Bowl, and I watched it already. I’m sad that there are now only two episodes left this season. I love the mix of humor in “A Knight of Seven Kingdoms”. The original GOT and House of the Dragon in particular can get pretty grim.

I am “pretending” that Dunk and Egg is the same time because it’s a Sunday ritual for me! We make dinner each time: this week it’s pulled pork, turnips in duck fat, corn bread, cole slaw, white beans with bacon and endive, berries and cream. I mean COME ON. We are happy no matter what the episode.

I think HBO network was shy on the 7 Kingdoms project, given how long it took in development and then budgeting for just a few hours. Now that they’ve seen how it hit the moment perfectly, I bet they wish they’d not been so stingy. Reminds me of the network’s attitude toward “ROME.”

Here’s a cool ungated article about the women of Minneapolis holding shit down: Includes interviews with folks from Haven Watch, but much more. https://archive.ph/2026.02.07-172437/https://www.glamour.com/story/the-women-holding-minneapolis-together

I truly could not care less about the superbowl nonsense. It’s only redeeming quality is Bad Bunny. I’ll catch that in whatever clips I see posted around the internet. But now I’m fascinated with ski events. What is hyaluronic acid, how do I get some? How do I inject it? 🤣🤣

Haha, Forget the injections. Just smear it all over your face (the cheap lotion works as good as the expensive) and your face will look like a peach.

Wendy from Salt Spring Island writes:

“Favourite legal drama: The Good Wife and the series that spun from that The Good Fight!

Oh, and LA Law, of course!

(I’ll have to check out Lincoln Lawyer if you say it’s good!)”

Wendy, I am such a fan of the “Good’s” too. Christine Baranski, what a woman, eh? As for Lincoln Lawyer, start with Season 1, it will draw you in.

Sweet Susie, thanks for the break from the horror, im definitely watching bad bunny and some of the plays....not all. Right now Im watching some type of weird reality show of people dropped into the artic circle to survive and earn 500,000$. crazy. I did absolutely adore Families Like Us the denmark drama about sea level rise, and denmark disappearing and the blond middle class become refugees to eastern europe and they fail in paris. excellent writing and acting. , doing the most painful knee replacement exercises. trying to plan the snacks for the game.

Hi honey! I’m so glad my TV log is a bit of a distraction. I’m making a bacon/bean/endive soup from my Game of Thrones Medieval cookbook, which sounds ridiculous, but the authors are actual culinary historians, it’s great. AND, I’m making a LOT of cornbread. Maybe 2 different kinds.

If I was dropped into the Arctic Circle I wouldn’t make one nickel. I will seek out the Denmark drama . . .

My friend Dancer just wrote:

“Costumes are such great fun! We did a protest today dressed as Superheros, Fighting for what we Love. We donned masks and capes and held conversation hearts with what we love written on them. We got 50 intrepid folks to join us in standing up to fascism. And, yes this was in ruby red Eastern Oregon.”
