Thank you! I've always wanted a recipe for this!

Btw, I have a “Hank Hill” level devotion to my propane outdoor grill, and getting the “rotisserie” attachment— the spike that slowly turns anything you stick on it, like a chicken, is really truly the best. Do you all have your pets and peeves as far as the roasted chicken game goes?

Also interested if any of you are raising chickens, hens. Legal in your town? My neighbor down the street had the best hens, (yes I live in a city!) and of course they got priced out of our insane berg. Have you done the classic “break the neck” procedure to slaughter a chicken, have you plucked the feathers? I never learned from my grandpa, who was a butcher, but I got some training at an early women’s commune, “Spinster Hollow”, and then from Andy Griffin’s farm, when we had that big stock making party. We had two iron outdoor pots big enough to boil me!

Yup. My folks were experts at it. Both born and raised in SF, but still farm enough to do the deed. My father would take hold of the bird, calm it, invert it, holding by its feet, then gently stroke the neck of the bird a few times til if fell asleep. Then with one quick stroke, break its neck. It was ht emost humane killing I've ever witnessed. Unfortunately, I killed chickens before he showed me this technique. Can't say it was as seemingly smooth a process.

Never roasted any pets, yet. Just love them so much.

The Grayhaven Motel! I'll bet that if David Lynch had ever wanted to shoot a picture in Ithaca, he would have made the motel a key feature of it!

I've actually seen a few concerts there, in its VERY intimate environment!

I can’t get over how everyone in town has been to some kind of art event here! They are just the best. And the look of the motel, I always feel like I”m on a Hitchcock set!

I hope you save the chicken skin. It is the tastiest part of a Costco roast chicken.

Actually you can buy the roaster, eat the skin and throw away the rest.
