Q: Why sex?

A: You’d really have to go back to my teenage years, in which the question "Why sex?" would be sort of obvious— because what teenager isn’t interested?

I had the usual sexual curiosities and insecurities and daydreams like anyone in high school. I just by accident met up with kids who were selling an underground newspaper on campus that had all these “wild” articles, everything from tearing the principal a new asshole over his racist remarks, to debates about the Vietnam War, to sex liberation.

The time Alison Bechdel made a joke about my “sexpert” shenanigans in “Dykes to Watch Out For.” Best satire ever. © A. Bechdel

We wrote about how to have a sex life without your parents mucking it up. I thought, “this was great.”
